The First Large-Scale Oil Vessel Docked at Shahid Rajaee Port / 44,000 Tons of Bitumen to Be Loaded – April 11, 2025

Hossein Abbasnejad announced the docking of the first large-scale oil vessel carrying bulk bitumen at Shahid Rajaee Port, stating that 44,000 tons of bitumen will be loaded from one of the oil terminals of the Persian Gulf Port.

The Director of Shahid Rajaee Special Economic Zone added that the vessel is 183 meters long with a draft of 12.5 meters.

According to him, a total of 1,444 oil tankers carried out loading and unloading operations at Shahid Rajaee Port and the Persian Gulf Port during the year 2024, indicating a 3.9% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

Due to its strategic location along the North-South transit corridor and proximity to regional industries and refineries, the Persian Gulf Oil Port—located within the Shahid Rajaee Special Economic Zone—is considered the largest oil port operated by the Ports and Maritime Organization, with 12 berths.

This port handles a variety of oil products, including gasoline, gas oil, fuel oil, bitumen, kerosene, furfural, and various types of oil. Since the beginning of April 2025, two essential cargo vessels carrying edible oil and barley have also docked at Shahid Rajaee Port.
