Dr. Salman Zarbi, The CEO of Iran Shipbuilding & Offshore Industries Complex (ISOICO)
Visiting ISOICO: An Opportunity to Foster New Collaborations and Showcase Iran’s Shipbuilding Capabilities on a Global Scale
As CEO of the Iran Shipbuilding & Offshore Industries Complex (ISOICO), I had the privilege of participating in the IRANIMEX International Exhibition, where I proudly represented Iran’s maritime industry. Recognized as the region’s largest maritime event, IRANIMEX provided a vital platform to demonstrate the country’s marine capabilities and to engage with the latest advancements and opportunities shaping the global maritime landscape.
With decades of experience in the design, construction, repair, and maintenance of ships and offshore structures, ISOICO is committed to expanding its footprint in the global maritime market by leveraging advanced technologies and its strategic location in the Persian Gulf. Our presence at IRANIMEX enabled us to showcase ISOICO’s strengths on an international scale and establish valuable connections with key industry stakeholders.
A primary objective of our participation was to strengthen international relations and position Iran as a leading force in the blue economy. We sought to attract investment in shipbuilding, logistics, and port infrastructure projects, while promoting technology transfer and innovation through expanded global partnerships.
As one of the region’s premier maritime exhibitions, IRANIMEX offered an unparalleled opportunity to highlight Iran’s port and offshore capacities before an international audience. It served as an ideal environment for exchanging ideas and cutting‑edge technologies, fostering cooperation between domestic and foreign enterprises, and deepening both regional and global collaboration.
During the event, we introduced several forward‑looking initiatives, including the design of multi‑purpose vessels for international cargo transport powered by green fuels and the deployment of automated port and logistics management systems to optimize costs and operational efficiency. These projects exemplify ISOICO’s dedication to sustainable development and the responsible stewardship of marine resources.
One of the most significant outcomes of IRANIMEX was the initiation of partnerships focused on technology transfer and technical knowledge exchange. We engaged with international firms on reducing ship emissions, constructing offshore platforms, and enhancing efficiency across maritime operations.
Given Iran’s strategic geographic position and direct access to open waters, the nation possesses immense potential for cultivating a vibrant blue economy. To fully realize this promise, it is essential to streamline regulations for foreign investment, encourage the adoption of innovative and eco‑friendly technologies in shipbuilding and port management, and reinforce regional alliances to open new trade corridors.
We were delighted to invite exhibition attendees to visit ISOICO’s facilities, where we presented our comprehensive expertise in shipbuilding, repair, and after‑sales services. Guests gained firsthand insight into our production workflows, adherence to international standards, and the advanced technologies integrated throughout our manufacturing lines.
The facility tours not only paved the way for future collaborations but also underscored to the global community that ISOICO is evolving in step with the world’s foremost shipbuilders. It reaffirmed our readiness to contribute Iran’s knowledge and experience to the ongoing advancement of the maritime and offshore sectors.
Ultimately, our engagement at IRANIMEX allowed us to effectively highlight ISOICO’s capabilities and to create new avenues for cooperation with foreign partners across various maritime and offshore domains. We remain committed to driving innovation, championing sustainability, and fostering international collaboration to strengthen Iran’s role in the global blue economy.
